A fabulous year for Grand Gestures.

We have…..

Participated in 46 weekly company classes where we explored a myriad of dance techniques and choreographic structures.

Shared our dance skills and joy in dancing with hundreds of people living with dementia and care staff in residential homes across Gateshead and beyond

Been the subject of an AHRC funded study by Dr. Trish Winter of Sunderland University

We have attended and presented at conference in Cheltenham on Older Age and Cultural Activity organised by the Women, Ageing and Media network

We have been on a mini tour to York and Lancashire to share practice and ideas with care staff.

We have danced at University campus sites, on building sites, in fields and on beaches

We have had visitors to our classes from Cheltenham, Cornwall, Lancashire, America, Australia and Paris

Participated in the cross art form exhibition Delving Deeper as both dancers and visual artists.

Danced with the children of Marine Park Primary School exploring elements of the local environment.

Grand Gestures have continued to be at the forefront of challenging ideas about who gets to dance and the way in which age is articulated and expressed.

We wish all our friends across the world a very Happy Christmas and a joyful New Year full of present possibilities! As GG dancers Linda and Kevan say…”no before or after….just NOW”

…………ENJOY!!
